SONG CRITIC

Song: I’m not perfect

Singer: Cheesa Laureta feat. Charice Pempengco

I'm neither a singer nor a musician -- but when I first heard this song, I was amazed how great this is, from the lyrics, rhythm and melody. Everything seems to be great.

Knowing Charice, she already proved her talent -- nothing more to say about her. It is the song she sings that gave even more credits to her. This collaboration with Cheesa Laureta who is one of the finalists of "The Voice" season 2 was incredibly awesome. They both showcased their powerful voices and can’t-hold-me-down attitude in this track. It was created and/or written with full of compassion.

This song help those girls out there to outstand and be proud of whom they are. It teaches how to be beautiful in our own simple ways. Though people associate this song to Christina Aguilera’s single ‘Beautiful’, it is undeniably that the songs have the same thought. But who are we to judge? It is how they sing it and how it affects listeners, right? This mid-tempo Pop ballad track hooked most of the girls – those girls who are underestimated. This song is sure to strike a chord with anyone who’s struggled with self-acceptance. I’ve been attached to this song as well, maybe because I also have some insecurities and fears that most of girls do. But this song helps girls to somehow overcome those fears they have inside. It’s also about how a person loves someone for who they really are, and not who they become because they want them to be.

There are such things in this world that not requires any upgrade. We are made by our ‘Creator’ just perfect. We no longer need to get some scientific or technological help to make ourselves feel more beautiful. One last thing I’d like to say, being Filipina is one to be proud of.
